ShowMe Technology Preview Released
Melrose, Jun. 27th, 2003, Conficio released today the new ShowMe player as technology preview. ShowMe technology is a streaming video format optimized for delivering visual demonstrations of software application in action to any desktop.
ShowMe technology is optimized for demonstrating your software application with low bandwidth requirements, for example over a 56K dial-up modem. The technology is based on Java™ and does usually not require the installation of any browser plug-in. All standard Internet browser do support this technology.
"Most software publishers struggle, demonstrating the benefits of their application", says Kaj Kandler, the founder of Conficio. He adds "Sales visits are expensive and cumbersome. Demo versions require special build procedures and expensive license management. And customers would like to see the application in action before they buy it." ShowMe provides a cost-effective way to demonstrate software applications over the Internet.
The ShowMe technology records the actual use of the application. It allows editing to highlight the portion of interest by adding callout bubbles with textual descriptions. The recording and editing process requires about the time to demonstrate the software to a hand full of customers. However, the result can be watched by hundreds or thousands of visitors to the website.
